*Pay Range: $93,000 - $130,000 USD annually
POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, the Senior Systems Engineer is accountable for handling a wide variety of escalated issues and lead all major hardware and software upgrades working with vendors as well as connecting peer nodes to ensure seamless operation as the network architecture evolves. This position provides support to engineers in the team on project design, testing and deployment activities.
You will be an example for other engineers in terms of knowledge, experience, and leadership. Senior Engineers are expected to lead initiatives and be an expert internally, as well as with clients.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Sr Systems Engineer will work with management team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business and operational requirements and systems goals to identify and install new systems and resolve business and operational systems issues. You will be responsible for deploying and administering Linux, Mac, Windows, and SAN/NAS systems, both physical and virtual. In addition, you will be responsible for resolving complex technical problems across an IT infrastructure in a fast-paced production environment. You will also be responsible for the following:
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have a background in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience. They must have related information technology technical experience, and be experienced with SAN/NAS Storage Administration, intermediate to advanced Linux administration, and experienced with Linux shell scripting (or another scripting language). The individual must be flexible and able to multitask between numerous and diverse tasks, be a team player, also capable of independent work, study, and analysis. Additional desired skills include:

- Serve as an escalation point for desktop and infrastructure teams on resolving more complex problems.
- Consults with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.
- Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test and modify the company’s computer systems and programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user or system design specifications.
- Design, document, test, create or modify the company’s computer programs related to machine operating systems
- Storage and Archiving administration (LTO Tape Library Operations)
- Technical management of physical and virtual systems, including servers and storage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT service issues related to operating systems and servers.
- Ability to install, configure and monitor Linux (Redhat/CentOS) OS and software.
- Ability to install, configure and monitor Windows OS and software.
- Ability to install, configure and monitor Mac OS and software.
- Writing documentation for the technical support staff on system-related procedures.
- Participate in racking equipment when necessary.
WHAT YOU BRING:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Participating in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call basis.
- Server and desktop hardware knowledge.
- Experience with Active Directory administration.
- Experience with Linux automation (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
- Experience with Fibre Channel switch administration (Brocade).
- Familiarity with technology standards, best practices, and industry guidelines.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Prior experience in a post-production environment, particularly with visual effects work and color grading for film and TV is an asset.
- Knowledge of industry software and workflows such as DaVinci Resolve, Autodesk Flame, Maya, Nuke, etc. is an asset.
